Unlock Domain On GoDaddy in 2021:

To unlock domain on GoDaddy in 2021, you must follow these steps and transfer easily to another domain provider within a minute.

Step 1: Select Domain & Update Contact Information accordingly

  1. Go to your Godaddy Login Page.
  2. Select your domain you want to transfer.
  3. Under Domain, click on three dots on the right-hand side, then click on Edit Settings.

  4. Under Edit Domain Settings, Review the Contact information (if not correct, click on Edit and update it).

  5. After the update of Contact information, click on Save.

Step 2: Turn off Privacy Protection of domain

The domain transfer will automatically fail if your domain privacy protection is enabled when the transfer process is initiated. So for the successful transfer, all the WHOIS information of that domain must be visible publically. Turn off privacy protection by following the steps outlined below –

  1. After doing the first step, now turn off Privacy protection.
  2. Click on the ‘Turn Privacy Off‘ button to remove it.
  3. Then click on Continue to off the Privacy protection.
  4. Now you Successfully turn off the privacy protection.

Step 3: Unlock the Domain On GoDaddy

When you requesting to another domain registrars to transfer your domain name, at that time, if you will see a message that ‘Your domain is locked, cannot be transferred‘ (as shown above in the picture), then doing this process to unlock the domain on GoDaddy.

  1. Go to your GoDaddy login page.
  2. Select the domain you want to transfer.
  3. Under Domain, click on three dots on the right-hand side, then click on Edit Settings.
  4. Scroll down and go to Additional Settings.
  5. Under Additional Settings, click on Edit of Domain Lock.
  6. Press the toggle to turn off the Domain lock.
  7. Now, wait for some time and refresh the page to see the changes.

Step 4: GoDaddy Authorization code to transfer domain

When transferring your domain name, most domain registrars require an authorization code or EPP Code to transfer. This authorization code needed for giving the extra layer of security and protection for unauthorized transfer. Follow the process to request for EPP/ Authorization code.

  1. Go to your GoDaddy login page.
  2. Select the domain you want to transfer.
  3. Under Domain, click on three dots on the right-hand side, then click on Edit Settings.
  4. Go down in the Additional settings, then click on ‘Transfer domain away from GoDaddy‘.
  5. On the next page, click on the button Continue with transfer.
  6. After that, the Authorization code will be sent to the Administrator’s registered mail id.

If the above-mentioned steps are completed successfully, your domain name is now ready to transfer from GoDaddy to another domain registrar.

Step 5: Submit Domain transfer request to another registrar

At this stage, choose your domain registrars to transfer your domain name. If already selected, then go to their domain transfer page to submit the request. For example, we took the Hostinger to transfer our domain.

  1. Go to the Hostinger Domain transfer page.
  2. Enter your domain name in the blank field and click on Transfer.

  3. Then you will be redirected to the Cart page to complete the transfer process.
  4. Now click on Checkout.
  5. Create a new account or Opt to login to enter into your existing account.
  6. Fill the form (if you are a new customer), select the payment option, and click on Checkout.
  7. Then review the order summary and select how many years to renew the domain.
  8. Now click on Place your order.
  9. Your Domain is now successfully transferred to Hostinger.

Step 6: Approve the Domain from GoDaddy to transfer

Within a few hours, you should receive an email from GoDaddy confirming that your domain transfer request was received. Now you have to approve the transfer domain request from your GoDaddy account. Otherwise, your domain transfer process will take up to 7 days to transfer.

  1. Go to your GoDaddy login page.
  2. Click on My Account on the top and then select Domains.
  3. Under Domains, click to select Transfers (to show the status of the pending transfers).
  4. Under the Pending Transfers page, you will see all the pending transfer IN/OUT status.
  5. Now select the Domain you want to transfer OUT / IN.
  6. Then select the Accept Transfer button on the Top.
  7. Finally, your domain is successfully transferred to another domain registrar from GoDaddy.

Step 7: Update Contact Information on New Domain registrar

Now go to your New Domain registrar and update your contact information of the new domain. Then a final confirmation mail will be sent to your registered mail id from your new domain registrar.
